- Salutations Jason for on the 11 Apr 96, verilly did you scribe;
-
- JC> Viscorp did tell me they plan to keep Amiga Tech operational as a
- JC> computer building, sales, and development company, just as they're
- JC> doing now. Viscorp's interest is having first pick at the Amiga
- JC> technology and chipset for their own purposes, i.e. their interactive
- JC> TV device.
-
- Woah. Does this mean AT would continue on location?
-
- JC> Stupid as it may sound, the important thing is to remain calm.
-
- If they didn't have a plan to relocate what AT infrastructure there is
- then there certainly seems no reason to panic.
-
- However, this hasn't stopped a lot of people from heralding the death of the
- Amiga. :-/ (I learnt after the first time)
-
- The way Amiga Technologies was going, the Amiga was going to die a death in
- the US. High end machines not competetive and no plan to sell A1200s.
-
- VIScorp already have big plans/deals to provide the Amiga technology in
- set-top boxes in the US. A low-end machine ala A1200 will then be available
- to the US at last. (Presuming it is a proper Amiga after adding a keyboard)
-
- Now if they deliver the promise of a continuation of the good work of
- Escom's Amiga Technologies in Europe, then the move is definately a good
- thing for the global Amiga market.
-
- Food for thought.
